On My Walk....

I stopped to admire a neighbor's copious crop of coneflowers, and along came a beautiful blue butterfly with a bent left wing.

'Hey there, lonely boy (lonely boy), lonely boy (lonely boy)
let me make your broken heart like new.
Hey there, lonely boy (lonely boy), lonely boy,
don't you know this lonely girl loves you?'

My large and creepy nemesis...

is out there lurking in the garden (hopefully not the house)...bigger than an average thumb, fast, dressed in an irridescent camo t-shirt and wearing army boots. the carefree barefoot days of summer are being tested and he scares me with his jumping, darting ways... if you double click on his photo, you will see him in his actual size. really.

Take Me Out To The Ballgame!

@2008 USPS
This song celebrates it's 100th anniversary this year. It was written on a New York City train in 1908 when Jack Norworth, an actor, singer and songwriter who had never attended a major league game wrote the words after seeing a sign about an upcoming game at the Polo Grounds. The stamp is based on an 1880 'trade card' . I'm not sure how long they will be available, but we bought a bunch.

the money tale.....

although it was 90 degrees in the shade by 8:30 a.m. yesterday, I walked to the grocery store for just a couple of items. I spent $2.57, and found a quarter on the way home, bringing my total day's expenditure to $2.32. My significant other received a $100 moving violation and a parking ticket upped from $10 to $25 since the check sent in for payment was 'lost.' I'm feeling a wild and crazy spending spree coming on today.

Sidewalk Sale Enlightenment?

"Gamble everything for love. If you are a true human being. If not, leave this gathering. Half-heartedness doesn't reach into majesty. You set out to find God, but then you keep stopping for long periods at mean-spirited roadhouses. Don't wait any longer. Dive in the ocean, leave and let the sea be you. Silent, absent, walking an empty road. All praise." Rumi
Rumi also wrote: "The mother and father are your attachment to beliefs and blood ties and desires and comforting habits. Don't listen to them! They seem to protect but they imprison. They are your worst enemies. They make you afraid of living in emptiness."
As with anything else, take what you need, and leave the rest. I didn't buy this t-shirt. I need my clothing to be silent. Shhhh.
