8:15 a.m. 10/18/08 Evanston Farmer's Market
In the midst of the pumpkin selling and the tomato buying and the musicians playing, suddenly everyone stopped what they were doing and looked up at the sky in silence. Camera's of all types came out and snapped shots of the biggest and most glorious rainbow I'd ever seen in my life...when it disappeared, everyone had a smile on their face...everyone went back to their shopping, still taking a glance upwards or over their shoulders at the miracle we'd just seen happen. For just a brief time, we all forgot about the stock market, the debates, the problems, the rain, the upcoming winter chill and shared a moment of gratitude. It was wonderful.
